A walk through the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC (this time last year) revealed small French treasures such as these:
Derain, Charing Cross Bridge, London
Derain, View of the Thames, London
Derain, Mountains at Collioure
de Vlaminck, Tugboat on the Seine, Chatou
Marquet, Posters at Trouville.
All a bit warm and blurry here! Gallery lighting, no flash of course, point and shoot, “Where is she NOW?” etc. You probably know the drill….
A lovely day out! And how ‘cool’ is the natural light out here on the landing?
My, you do get around – lovely to see that Calder warming up that glorious open space…
Yes, it is truly at home there. Apparently it was installed a year after Calder’s death and was his last work. What vision!
